CRAFT
Craft continuously evolves as new technologies become infused with old. However, one thing remains the same, it is the story around process, the art of making & the visual story in which it is told.
My work is a celebration of the creative process itself—a testament to the beauty of making and everything experience throughout the journey of development. It exceeds the boundaries of language and unifies us through a shared emotion.
The importance of storytelling is everpresent in my creative process; however, as I adapt to new technology or I am able to communicate through different mediums. This is evident in my sampling process of knit swatches on the industrial knitting machine.
As a material designer at Nike, I incorporated my process of craft and making in order to elevate product and develop innovative ways to develop new materials, concepts and inspiration.
Work from artist residency, Joya: arte + ecología / AiR in Almeria, Spain. Creating around ideas of building home, in entirely new and unfamiliar places, I wove rugs using found objects. By utilizing unfamiliar objects that were discarded and creating an object associated with home, and essentially creating a home for the objects, I was able to connect to my surroundings and simultanesouly become a part of them.
